Cut Your Flyer Costs in Half by Effectively Using Your Copier

One of the interesting parts of the copier business is how everyone wants to save a buck when it comes to purchasing the copier, but then miss thousands of dollars when using the copier on a day to day basis.

Take, for example, the policy Xerox has when billing pages.  An 11 X 17 sheet of paper is billed at the same rate as an 8.5 X 11 sheet of paper.  Say your Seattle business was planning to run 2000 flyers – all 8.5 X 11.  If the company used the Xerox and printed these 2 up rather than 1 up – on 11 X 17 paper rather than 8.5 X 11 paper – the color cost would be cut in half.

If there is a negotiated rate of 7 cents a copy, doing the copies at 8.5 X 11 costs $140.  Doing them on 11 X 17 paper and cutting them in half would cost just $70.  If this is a monthly print runt, the cost savings would be $4200 over 5 years.  This is substantial savings to cut the pieces of paper in half.  This also applies to longer documents.  If the user did more of the multi-page printing on 11 X 17 – there per copy costs would effectively be cut in half.

These are the kind of cost saving tricks we try and show our clients that don’t end up on the quote sheet.  Is your Seattle copier company teaching you how to pay less on your copies?
